78. celebration

23 marzo 2010

Although this is an old picture I want to celebrate the good news.

The Warriors are finally for sale!

And one more blog for all my Warriors peeps. But you probably already know this website.

"Joint Juice."

Never heard of it until my aunt decided to buy it from Costco. The name makes me laugh. I'll let you think about why.

My first time eating at Gunter's Restaurant. Nice portions with nice people. Happy birthday to my uncle (second to the right)!

Awesome treasure chest!

Filled with golden flakes of...

...fried fish of course!

Creative merchandising and advertising amuse me.

19 marzo 2010

Buried between piles of unused shoes clothes and bed sheets what do I find...

The Weapons of Moroland Shield. Stereotypically every Filipino household owns one and it is displayed somewhere in the house. But of course in our household it remains buried with the rest of unused crap. The point I'm trying to make: Yes, we have the shield; no, we do not proudly display it.

73. questions

18 marzo 2010

Another still life portrait from the kiddies:

Yes, there really was a box labeled "Questions for Amanda." When I first started at the after-school program I work at, these curious little monkeys bombarded me with questions so the program coordinator created a box to put questions and I answered one each day.

Questions included:
-How old are you?
-Where do you live?
-Were you ever a teacher before?
-Who is your favorite singer?

My favorite question I received:
-Are you stupid?

Ah, kids.

72. st. patty's day

17 marzo 2010

For an Irish "holiday" we celebrated in a very German way - das boot with German beer (shit German beer by the way*) in a German restaurant found at a street festival. Whatevas. It was my first St. Patty's Day celebration experience. Sadly, I did not get a green beer! Oh wells, there's always next year...

*Never ever get Hofbräuhaus München. To quote my cousin, it tasted like feet. Although we did get it out of a cooler with that labeled tap at the end of the night...Haha. Oh the things we endure to drink. I guess that's the true spirit of St. Patty's Day.

My beloved Warriors.

An upset Monta:

I think it's fair enough to say I hate Lakers fans, especially the ones who go to Warriors games. And especially the ones who say they're Warriors fans, but come Lakers game time don a Kobe jersey. Fakersssss. But anyways. Good game. Although we did not win, we definitely game them a run for their money.

My cousin's new hobby...wine fermenting and whiskey (or moonshine har har) distilling. Awesome. I love this hobby because I, the beneficiary, receives free home-made booze. When the times are rough, make your own alcohol.

One of the classiest cotillions I have ever been to. Happy Birthday Jienelle! Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I couldn't take that many cool pictures. I couldn't even get a picture with the debutante :( (at least not on my camera). I can leave you with this picture from my phone though:

A program, my name placard & the party favors that look like edible desserts, but they're really towels! Awesome party favors btw.

67. beauty

12 marzo 2010

So I'm on the way to the gym and I go through this empty room next to get into the gym.

Nothing new, nothing special...EXCEPT I happen to notice a sign hanging all by its lonesome on the wall.

What funny about this sign is that it's an award for making the city of South San Francisco more beautiful, but it's they decided to hang it up in an abandoned empty space...huh.

And also...does every city have a "beautification committee"? If so, how can I get on that? haha.

11 March 2010

66. the hunt

11 marzo 2010

Let's all sing to to tune of the elementary school song "I'm Going on a Bear Hunt" and replace "Bear Hunt" with "Job Hunt" haha.

Side note: When I worked in a kindergarten class this was one of my favorite songs to do with the kids! They also had "I'm Going on a Vampire Hunt" (the same tune) and one kid would cry every single time the vampire song came on (even though it was the same tune as the bear hunt song!) because he was afraid of vampires and the dark. Aw, cuties.

Another side note: When showing my cousin the bear hunt video he said I hang out with too many kindergartners. Haha

See my keys.

What you did not see earlier today:

I left them in a bathroom stall at work, then I left to go home. Fortunately my co-worker went the same stall and called me. Also fortunately that particular co-worker lives somewhat close to me so she was able to drop off my keys. Whew! Talk about coincidence. Had she not used the bathroom, in the same stall, and not lived near me, who knows what I would have done with my car left at BART. Oy.

One of the cute geniuses of architecture club or more casually known as look-at-books-with-building-pictures-draw-buildings-and-build-stuff-club.

Oh, to be young...to focus on building with blocks instead of building your life.

63. home part 2a

09 marzo 2010

so...i'm kinda taking a cheap shot... (har har. get it?)

Another view of my room. The french message board above my bed filled with various pictures, tickets, nametags and crafts. I used to feel creative. Now most of the time I feel un-energized, soul-less, and un-inspired. I don't like using the word un-inspired...but maybe because I lack the energy and my own personal space to truly feel any inspiration right now.

Ok now that I think about it, I guess that's not entirely true. I mean, I do have this picture blog after all...and my monstrous un-finished scarf...

62. home part 2

07 marzo 2010

The view when I wake up from my bed (in my parent's house):

My drawers, decorated with assorted stickers collected throughout my youth. You've already met my turtle Screech. A mirror from Target, the best store ever (heh heh). In the bottom left corner of the mirror is a "fortune" from a fortune cookie that reads "Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself." Madonna and child picture that's been in my room since forever (my room used to be a guest bedroom so it's been in my room before it turned into MY room). A homemade Eeyore latch hook rug made by yours truly. And finally a framed picture of ballet slippers - I got it from my aunt who I currently live with actually...I think it was from a calendar or something and she framed it for me. Also, the ballet slippers are a nod to my old wallpaper which featured strip of ballet slippers that ran throughout my room. And yes, I do have sky wallpaper. I took this picture while laying down. I wanted to go for an authentic feel...plus, I didn't wanna get out of bed.

61. "man hands"

06 marzo 2010

Once, in my psychology lecture hall freshmen year, a professor told the audience that typically male ring fingers are longer than their index (or pointer) fingers and vice versa for women (index fingers are longer than ring fingers). Key word: typically. In the lecture hall, a random guy and I exchanged glances and noticed I have "man hands" and he had "woman hands." Haha. Random anecdote, I know, but it ties in nicely with a picture of my sister's hand.

Btw, she also has "man hands." Maybe the rings will make up for it.

Some product names crack me up. Take for example this blue tooth (now that I think about it, the name blue tooth is funny itself too haha):

San Francisco's Civic Center is always abuzz and today was no exception. Actually today specifically was March 4 Day of Action and Strike in Defense of Public Education. On my way home from work I was able to listen to some of the rally and of course grab some pictures.

The mass of people. My pictures really don't do the amount of people justice.

But my favorite part about the rally: the creative signs & demonstrations.

"DEATH OF EDUCATION" Sad. Poignant (at least in my humble opinion).

"I can haz education?" Man, we definitely need a better education system if that's how she spells. She should've went one step further and included a picture of those LOLz cats.

See the South San Francisco BART parking structure elevator.

Now see a close up of the upper left corner.

Spiders really creep me out...but at the same time I'm oddly intrigued. Of course I had to take this picture really far back and use the zoom from my camera. No way was I going near that thing!

56. home part I

28 febrero 2010

"Home is where the heart is." A well-known cliche. Currently my heart is spread in several different places. I'm not ranking them, just showing (or posting) them in a convenient order.

Home Part I: A South City condo where my aunt & uncle graciously let me stay (more like crash) rent free to save costs on commuting to my two jobs in the peninsula.

aka the mess that is currently my life. (FYI: Those clothes in the corner are clean.) My room is a family's home office where my bed consists of two sleeping bags. I live out of two duffel bags and share a closet with three people. I'm definitely not complaining. I'll gladly accept close living quarters for free rent (although I do hope it's temporary).

My dad was season ticket holder of the game Saturday night!

Conversation my dad had with the interviewer guy:
Guy: How long have you been a season ticket holder?
My dad: Since 1987, 23 years.
Guy: Wow! You must need therapy!

HAHAHA. geeze. That's what you call unconditional love.
